A Special Focus on the Horrific Vyapam Scam and the Murderous Right Wing Nexus in Madhya Pradesh

The sinister Vyapam scam has blown the lid off the hollow claims of the RSS and the BJP of being the protectors of Hindus and of being “true nationalists” as against the “treachery of pseudo-secular” politicians and “deshdrohi” minorities. Yes, the Hindutva brigade and their cronies have been massacring HINDUS (most of whom are ex-RSS recruits) in large numbers in Madhya Pradesh to cover up the massive corruption of the local BJP Government and the Sangh Parivar in the Vyapam Scam.

It’s a well known fact that the origins of the Vyapam scam lay in the covert policy of the BJP Government more than a decade ago to hand over degrees and jobs on a platter to the offspring of RSS and BJP leaders. The modus operandi was simple. A student impersonator, an ex-student or a bright peer, would be paid handsomely to write the answers at the designated examination centre for the undeserving student whose parents could bestow special favours or money to the student as well as the state education and government officials. Fake ID cards, spare class rooms, blank answer sheets, and a knowledgeable impersonator all formed the nucleus of this scam.

But the scam grew over the years to humongous proportions and even stretched beyond the right-wing mafia to contaminate the entire political and educational systems, law enforcement agencies and even the state judiciary. The children of politicians, judges and policemen have all benefited with educational qualifications and jobs, dangerously compromising these democratic institutions. Many deserving students have failed exams or not got jobs because of these scamsters, which caused a number of bravehearts aka whistleblowers to reveal the rot in the system at the risk of their precious lives.

No less than the governor, Ram Naresh Yadav, the former education minister, the ex-private secretary of the chief minister of the state, Shivraj Chauhan, and the BJP chief minister himself have been accused of being the ring leaders of the scam. The son of the Governor, a Congress appointee, has been killed and it was learnt that money had actually changed hands within the official residence of this dignitary. Confidential software including Excel sheets expose the misdoings of these top politicians and their cronies.

However, the Vyapam scam has taken a turn for the worse with the murder of more than 50 persons in the past 2-3 years that coincided with the rollout of the state-level probe by the cornered BJP government. These victims were either accused or witnesses, and all have died mysteriously with more than 10 deaths reported as “suicide” contrary to available evidences.meanwhile the state government and judiciary carried on an unfair, dishonest probe that moved at a snail's pace.

A typical example of the rampant killings and cover-ups was the case of Namrata Damor who had been caught for cheating a few days before her mutilated corpse was found on the railway tracks in a remote part of Madhya Pradesh. Three highly experienced doctors who examined her unidentified corpse and performed the first mortem came to the conclusion that it was murder by asphyxiation and strangling. They clearly mentioned it in their report after which her body was cremated. 

However, later on her identity was established and a second report done three months later by Dr Badkur which was based on mere photographic evidence (and not on any physical examination of the body) came to the incredulous conclusion that the first report was wrong and the case was not of homicide but of suicide. Also, with a mere glance of the photograph, the doctor goes on to state even more ridiculously that the victim was mentally disturbed because of failure in love and annoyance of her parents. By the way, it was a post mortem report.

Interestingly, the same Dr. Badkur (alternatively spelled as Badkul) also performed the post mortem in the death of high-profile RTI activist and former BJP insider, Shehla Masood, who was shot dead by assailants on a bike. Even her post mortem was changed from murder to suicide due to the criminal intervention of the same Dr. Badkur who has become a master of post mortem fudging. There is a need for a fresh probe on the murder of Shehla Masood who “had just received information that could shake the government in Madhya Pradesh to its core." Despite my exposure of the complicity of Dr. Badkur in both these deaths, the mainstream national media has maintained a stoic silence on this issue. Hopefully, better sense prevails with the growing international media attention these cases have attracted.

And the right-wing murders don’t stop here. Yesterday the ninth key witness in the Asaram rape case was attacked and became the third victim to succumb to his wounds. A gullible electorate is willing to forgive and forget the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, the riot massacres across India, the bomb blasts in Malegaon and  the Samjhauta Express and the bloody killings of RTI activists as well as key witnesses in the Vyapam scam and Asaram case. As long as we continue to vote for murderers, rapists and communal bigots, so omnipresent in the current political dispensation, then we must bid adieu to the false promises of Acche Din and good governance!

Christmathon 2014: I'm dreaming of a Swachh Bharat

Welcome to our Christmathon! This year we celebrate this joyous occasion with the proper fine-tuning of our content that is desperately needed, given the changed political climate in our country. So, we have modified some of the popular Christmas Carols and poems for the benefit of our more "patriotic" readers. 

All school and college students are supposed to learn these poems and songs online on Good Governance Day i.e. 25th December, which by a strange coincidence happens to be a major festival of non-Indian origin that has been imported from the West i.e. Israel.

Here's a sample verse:

Acche Din Aanewale *conditions apply

Fiends, Minorities and other second-class citizens, lend me your ears (or we’ll chop them right off and take them during the next riots, anyways). I come to praise NaMo not to bury him. The evil that men do lives after us. Goodness was never in my bones. So it is with NaMo. The noble Uma Bharati had once called Modi ‘Vinash Purush’ and he responded with “Et tu, Uma” and then took the help of the RSS to vanquish her. For NaMo is an honourable man…if you do not count his role in the 2002 riots and its subsequent cover-up, Snoopgate, various fake encounters, corrupt crony capitalistic dealings with Adani-Ambani, his disdainful treatment of senior leaders like Jaswant Singh, Advani, etc.

The next to wound him grievously was Smriti Irani, the saas-cum-bahu who announced that she would go on a fast unto death - in line with Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Acche Sanskaar’ - if Modi did not step down as CM. Godrej, other business leaders and human right activists then threatened to punish NaMo for the 2002 riots. But ambition is made of sterner stuff. His critics became astonishingly silent with threats, awards and fair compensation. Ratan Tata received an award from the ruling Vajpayee government and got land for his dream project: the highly unimaginative Nano. Business leaders now started flocking around Modi with sheer greed and elastic principles. But NaMo is an honourable man and he rewarded them for their support many times over. Then, he targeted top cops like Sanjiv Bhatt who saved many lives during the riots but claimed that Modi was far from innocent during the mayhem.  

And thought the ghosts of Gujarat continued to haunt, Modi became the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate and promised the Indian electorate “Acche Din” in his campaign if he was voted in to power at the centre. And now he has won by a huge margin to become the Prime Minister of India. But NaMo is an honourable man and if you are surprised that there are ‘bure din’ instead of ‘acche din’ for you, then you probably did not read the “CONDITIONS APPLY” disclaimer in your haste to remove the UPA Government or rather the “Vatican-backed Delhi Sultanate.” For "acche din" would be delivered to you only if the following CONDITIONS are met: The horrific socio-political instability in the Middle East improves dramatically, oil prices fall mysteriously (instead of moving upwards), Sanghis stop persecuting minorities, neighbouring countries become genuinely friendly towards India and Pigs learn to fly.

Yes, it will be Acche Din for you if you are an Ambani or Adani, a rioter (such as member of the Hindu Rashtra Sena) who targets minorities, a union minister with a track record of rape, an HRD minister who has illegally fudged her educational qualifications, right wing activists like Col Purohit involved in terror plots, corrupt fascist politicians involved in scams in MP and Karnataka, international oil companies and people like Saheb and myself, Amit Shah, who are now in a position to quash the multitudes of potential cases against us and have started conjuring riot-like situations in states like UP and Maharashtra which are going to the polls! Yes, it is truly acche din for ‘honourable’ men like us.

My Arguments Against the Jan Lok Pal Movement

To say that the Jan Lok Pal movement is just an anti-corruption movement is an insult to our intelligence. It is an Anti-Congress movement propped by right-wing and left-wing fundamentalists attempting to topple the UPA government before the next elections or to further damage their credibility to enable the BJP to form the next government. Yes, the UPA government has failed miserably in curbing corruption and inflation but I still will not support this movement because of the following reasons:

1) It is a Political Movement and not a movement by civil society.

With Shanti Bhushan (ex-law minister of Indian, a former BJP politician and RSS man), Swami Agnivesh (a Maoist representative), and Anupam Kher (Husband of high-level BJP functionary) promoting and participating in this movement, the Jan Lok Pal Movement is definitely a political movement. The high level of support of RSS activists and Maoists outside parliament and the BJP politicians inside parliament justify this truth. Other promoters of this movement have other axe to grind such as Kiran Bedi who didn’t get the promotion she wanted.

The other arguments I have against this movement are as follows:

2) A Malicious Slander Campaign Against the PM

The Jan Lok Pal activists have resorted to a malicious, slander campaign against Dr Manmohan Singh, the Indian Prime Minister. They call him corrupt without an iota of proof. Yes, Manmohan Singh made an awful mistake by trusting Kalmadi and Raja to do their job. The mechanics of coalition politics hampered him with respect to the 2G issue and Kalmadi had been virtually appointed by the earlier NDA Government. Let us not forget the incredible rescue act Manmohan Singh pulled off in the early 1990s to save the Indian economy and enable it to reach this high level of growth.

3) The Movement is not backed by Minorities:

The knowledge of RSS involvement in this campaign has made Muslims, Christians, Dalits and other minorities highly skeptical of this campaign as they perceive ulterior motives are at play.

4) Anna Hazare is No Gandhi:

The truth is that Anna has not denied some of the serious charges against him. He spent Rupees Two Lakhs for his birthday bash out of his funds in a charitable trust. Gandhiji would never do this. The average Indian spends much less for his wedding than the sum of Rupees Two Lakhs. Besides, Gandhiji never hurled abuses and falsehoods at the British administration in the manner Anna is criticizing the PM as being corrupt (without any proof). Anna has even mocked the PMs age although he is not that much younger than him. The most damning thing against Anna is his intolerance as he has reportedly asked for a blanket ban on the consumption of all non-vegetarian foodstuff in Maharashtra. This is not a Gandhian attitude at all.

5) The Double Standards of the Lok Pal Movement

The Bhushans, the right hand men of Team Anna, face strong corruption allegations themselves. They reportedly told senior politician that they could fix a judge in one case. The other serious charge is Shanti Bhushan’s son has withdrawn a litigation against Mayawati in exchange for a deal on land acquisition in UP. The question is if there were serious charges against the Bhushans why did Anna insist they remain on the draft panel? Then how can we have different yardsticks for politicians and bureaucrats facing corruption charges. Also, Baba Ramdev who is part of this movement made a loud noise about black money outside India when it has been found out that he himself indulges in money laundering and even owns islands abroad. Yeddyurappa, the Emperor of Corruption, and Modi, the Genocide man, have also backed this movement when they are incorrigibly corrupt. Booze is still freely available in Gujarat although it is a dry state.

6) Potentiality of Violence

With RSS and BJP participation in the Lok Pal movement there is always a possibility of violence to instigate a strong response from the authorities which could make the government hated even more. This is the same tactic they use in Kashmir vis-à-vis the stone pelting and all.

7) BJP’s Double Game

The game of the BJP is to criticize the UPA Government inside and outside parliament so as to erode their support base. However, they have no intentions of getting the Jan Lok Pal bill passed entirely. They will ensure that it gets passed by the Lok Sabha but their members will vote against it in the Rajya Sabha. Remember the same thing happened way back in 1968. By the way, the BJPs position is condemnable as it allowed Yedyurappa to continue in Karnataka for nearly a year after the corruption charges were made as they feared erosion of the Lingayat base there.

Well, my advice would be to give more powers to the existing anti-corruption agencies currently instituted like the CVC, the anti-corruption bureaus, the CBI anti-corruption wing and the Lokayuktas. Make them more accessible to the common man facing the brunt of corruption. Change existing laws so that corrupt people like the Rajas, Kalmadis and the Yeddyurappas get heavy punishment including life imprisonment. Yes, the end is noble but the end does not justify the means. Jai Hind!!!

In Defence Of Dr. Manmohan Singh

India was in deep financial crisis and facing a shameful default in the early 1990s when the ex-RBI governor, Dr Manmohan Singh became the Finance Minister of the newly elected Government. He brought in a wave of sweeping reforms that saved the face and economy of the nation. It was due to his astute policies that privatisation, liberalisation,deregulation and tax reforms took place. The economy was saved and India grew to become one of the strongest economies in the world by 2007 with Dr. Manmohan at the helm as the Prime Minister of a Congress-led UPA coalition.

Despite surviving the financial crisis of 2008, India has found itself in a soup with spiraling inflation (as faced by almost every other country on this planet) and large-scale corruption at every level of government and society. The 2G Telecom scandal and the Commonwealth scams have rocked the UPA government hard and it had almost sunk when Anna Hazare started his anti-corruption drive insisting on a Lok Pal bill drafted by civil society. This anti-corruption crusader has brought the government to its knees by maligning Dr Manmohan Singh and the entire UPA government but without being critical of the opposition party which not only has an anti-minority agenda but also itself been embroiled in several scams including the Tehelka defence scandal, coffingate, the Karnataka mining scam, etc.

 This anti-Manmohan tirade therefore puts a question mark on the motives of the Lok Pal movement. They so easily forget the great work Manmohan Singh has done for India (including the implementation of RTI Act and anti-poverty measures as PM). The incredible rescue act which he had done in the 1990s makes this writer scorn the ingratitude of those who criticised him so harshly without knowing the facts. The facts are that Manmohan Singh is a mild man who believed in almost complete delegation of authority to the extent that he trusted the Kalmadis and the Rajas to do their job diligently. He was as surprised as everyone else to learn about the scams as it had happened under his own nose and even after the false guarantees given by these rogues. And let us not forget that it is difficult for a PM of a coalition to effectively monitor and deal with ministers placed by their allies. One must not also forget that  Manmohan Singh as a congress man has to make decisions keeping the party policies in mind (although he is no remote control) although they may seem unpopular.


So, I ask fellow Indians not to misjudge one of the greatest economists and politicians we've had in Independent India. Do not mock him and remember that if Anna Hazare is old and wise, then Manmohan Singh is much older and much wiser.
