Why don t you speak out against Indian Politicians? Most of them are far worse than Trump: An Open Letter to Priyanka Chopra

Dear Priyanka,

We are truly proud of your achievements as an actor, singer and model. We are prouder of your outburst against Donald Trump, the controversial US Presidential candidate who could very well 'Make America Hate Again'! You were spot on when you said: "I just think you can't put a ban on anyone; Generalising a type of people is really primitive." Insightful words Indeed!

As a matter of fact, I too have been a staunch critic of Trump and his politics of hate. However, at this point I must dare point out that this phenomenon of bigotry is not confined to the American shores alone. All across the globe, terrorists and fascists have sprung to power and formed governments just by selling Hate to the local populace. We have seen it happen in Egypt, Turkey, Gaza, Russia, Syria, Afghanistan and even in some European countries! Social media and the collaborative conventional media (or bazaaru media) rather than curtailing this menace, have contributed to its proliferation in every nook and corner of our beautiful planet. Yes, hate is selling everywhere.

But the stark reality is that India is no exception. Yes, you read it right. India is no exception. The winds of bigotry and prejudice blow unhindered and with great intensity across our great land too. Horrific deeds are perpetrated in the name of religion, caste, ethnicity and regional affiliation. And many of these atrocities have been orchestrated by leading Indian politicians for cheap political gains.

And this is where I question your partiality. Why do you choose to remain silent when our politicians spew venom and incite violence against our own countrymen? Wasn't your silence deafening when a man was butchered at Dadri by a mob that was driven by false rumours spread by local politicians of a national party. Why are you silent on riots engineered by politicians which have killed thousands of our citizens in the past few decades, especially the 1984 and 2002 riots. Aren't these murders, rapes and other physical attacks far worse than whatever Mr. Trump proposes?

But if you are looking out for someone who spreads vitriolic communal and ethnic hatred a la Trump, then look no further than our own Rajya Sabha. Just a few days ago, Modi has appointed the Xenophobic Subramaniam Swamy as the BJP representative in the upper house of the Indian parliament despite being fully aware of his ugly diatribes against the minorities of our nation. Mr Swamy wants Christians and Muslims to be driven out of our nation unless they acknowledge their Hindu ancestry.

Now even the government buttering Bollywood stars, who often click selfies with our Prime Minister, must agree that what Modi has done is terribly wrong. Swamy is far worse than Trump. While the US Presidential Candidate wants to prevent Muslims from coming to America, Swamy wants to kick out Muslims and Christians from India, although most of them are loyal citizens of this country. And your beloved PM could find only this despicable character to lead his party in parliament!

Will you now speak out against our xenophobic politicians and their vile deeds or will you continue to bury your head in the sand like an ostrich and pretend that all of us live in a hunky dory world in which the Trumps are just aberrations? Could you compose and sing verses that bring out the ugliness of Indian politics, or would you just be content to dance to the tunes of a sadistic establishment? The ball is in your court, Priyanka. Do remember the wisest words ever written: "The hottest seats in Hell are reserved for those who remain neutral in a moral crisis." Speaking out against the arrogant US Presidential candidate is a step in the right direction, but do show the same amount of concern when there are fires raging in your own backyard!

Acche Din Aanewale *conditions apply

(A fictional Shakespearean speech by Amit Shah, Narendra Modi’s Mark Anthony - conceptualisation and translation by Vivek Pereira)

Fiends, Minorities and other second-class citizens, lend me your ears (or we’ll chop them right off and take them during the next riots, anyways). I come to praise NaMo not to bury him. The evil that men do lives after us. Goodness was never in my bones. So it is with NaMo. The noble Uma Bharati had once called Modi ‘Vinash Purush’ and he responded with “Et tu, Uma” and then took the help of the RSS to vanquish her. For NaMo is an honourable man…if you do not count his role in the 2002 riots and its subsequent cover-up, Snoopgate, various fake encounters, corrupt crony capitalistic dealings with Adani-Ambani, his disdainful treatment of senior leaders like Jaswant Singh, Advani, etc.

The next to wound him grievously was Smriti Irani, the saas-cum-bahu who announced that she would go on a fast unto death - in line with Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Acche Sanskaar’ - if Modi did not step down as CM. Godrej, other business leaders and human right activists then threatened to punish NaMo for the 2002 riots. But ambition is made of sterner stuff. His critics became astonishingly silent with threats, awards and fair compensation. Ratan Tata received an award from the ruling Vajpayee government and got land for his dream project: the highly unimaginative Nano. Business leaders now started flocking around Modi with sheer greed and elastic principles. But NaMo is an honourable man and he rewarded them for their support many times over. Then, he targeted top cops like Sanjiv Bhatt who saved many lives during the riots but claimed that Modi was far from innocent during the mayhem.

And thought the ghosts of Gujarat continued to haunt, Modi became the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate and promised the Indian electorate “Acche Din” in his campaign if he was voted in to power at the centre. And now he has won by a huge margin to become the Prime Minister of India. But NaMo is an honourable man and if you are surprised that there are ‘bure din’ instead of ‘acche din’ for you, then you probably did not read the “CONDITIONS APPLY” disclaimer in your haste to remove the UPA Government or rather the “Vatican-backed Delhi Sultanate.” For "acche din" would be delivered to you only if the following CONDITIONS are met: The horrific socio-political instability in the Middle East improves dramatically, oil prices fall mysteriously (instead of moving upwards), Sanghis stop persecuting minorities, neighbouring countries become genuinely friendly towards India and Pigs learn to fly.

Yes, it will be Acche Din for you if you are an Ambani or Adani, a rioter (such as member of the Hindu Rashtra Sena) who targets minorities, a union minister with a track record of rape, an HRD minister who has illegally fudged her educational qualifications, right wing activists like Col Purohit involved in terror plots, corrupt fascist politicians involved in scams in MP and Karnataka, international oil companies and people like Saheb and myself, Amit Shah, who are now in a position to quash the multitudes of potential cases against us and have started conjuring riot-like situations in states like UP and Maharashtra which are going to the polls! Yes, it is truly acche din for ‘honourable’ men like us.

Narendra Modi's Gujarat Vs Nazi Germany

I don't know which is worse Nazi Germany or Narendra Modi's Gujarat. And yet we all turn a blind eye to the situation. But doesn't Modi win elections? Yes, but Hitler too won elections. Wait a minute... Narendra Modi has improved Gujarat a lot in terms of development...it achieves more than 10% growth. Well, the Nazis virtually transformed Germany into a global superpower with technology and infrastructure far ahead of their times. If only they had used it for better goals. Their missile technology was far superior to those of their foes. In terms of employment, the Nazis drastically reduced the unemployment problem in Germany. And, by the way, as per Vaghela's claim the average growth rate enjoyed by Gujarat from 1980 to 2000 (in the Pre-Modi era) was 16-20% and it has in fact come down in the past decade!!!

But doesn't Narendra Modi claim to be secular and he recently went on a Sadbhavna fast for communal harmony. ha ha ha..Modi and secular..you're joking, right? Narendra Modi catalysed, presided and organized the worst communal riots in Gujarat in Indian history. Mobs of people went on the rampage murdering, raping and looting members of the minority community while police officers were ordered by Narendra Modi not to act on these BJP, RSS and VHP workers. Sanjeev Bhatt, a top cop at the time, in a written affidavit mentions that Narendra Modi on the eve of the riots presided over a meeting with top police offices (in which Bhatt was present) and told these police officers to be soft on Hindu rioteers and allow them to run amok. This is exactly what happened and Modi has now targetted brave police officers like Sanjeev Bhatt who dare reveal the truth and fight for justice in Gujarat. And let's not forget the encounter killings where police officers killed unarmed muslims like Ishrat. In fact, even Haresh Pandya, a BJP rebel, was killed by this horrible coterie that includes the likes of Amit Shah. The minorities live in fear and as second-class citizens in Gujarat. Rampant corruption continues to occur in this state under the guise of development. How else would liqour be freely available in a dry state? Narendra Modi is fighting tooth and nail to oppose the appointment of a Lokayukta that would curb this corruption.

Even as I type this out, news has come in that yet another RTI activist has been killed in Gujarat for exposing the government. Yes, Nazi Germany almost seems to be a paradise as compared to Modi's Gujarat.
