The Weird Reaction of the US Administration

In the wake of the raid on Osama in his Abbotabot hideout and his subsequent assassination, the US Administration did speak in mixed voices almost akin to the Pakistani doublespeak immediately afterwards. The CIA chief bluntly informed the world that the Pakistani administration and military were not informed in advance as he said that "it was decided that any effort to work with the Pakistanis could jeopardize the mission. They might alert the targets.”

On the same day the US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, thanked everyone involved in taking down Bin Laden and pointed to "our close cooperation with Pakistan," which almost implied that the Pakistanis assisted in the operation. She also mentioned then that the US administration was committed to supporting the Pakistani people and government as they defend their own democracy from violent extremism.

This reaction is notably weird as Clinton did not question the fact that Osama, their most wanted men who massacred thousands of Americans in horrendous acts of terror, could be hiding in a posh mansion in the Pakistani heartland for at least six years surrounded by military officers and ISI agents without them having any knowledge of his existence. Perhaps she was only attempting to justify the nearly eight billion dollars of aid which the Obama government had given Pakistan in just two years despite knowing its complicity in financing, arming and supporting terrorists worldwide (and that too after the state-sponsored attack in Mumbai carried out by the Lashkar-e-Toiba in 2008).
